Once home to an NBA all-star, a Billboard #1 artist, a civil rights icon, a prime minister, and a jazz pioneer, North Lawndale is a neighborhood rich in history and excited about its future. During the early 1900's, North Lawndale was a thriving community with the nation's largest retail store. The community saw a period of decay over several decades after the riots broke out on the city's West Side in 1968. Today, North Lawndale is intent on rebuilding and revitalizing the neighborhood through its strong community organizations and dedicated residents.
