World, Folk & Electronica Music [Chicago Cultural Center]

Three of the Chicago Cultural Center’s ongoing series present world, folk, or electronica music. Additional one-time events present a variety of other performers and ensembles.

Admission is free.

Music without Borders showcases world music (held fall through spring on Fridays at 12:15 pm in the Randolph Café).

Chicago Cultural Center Presents highlights critically acclaimed national and international musicians who are rarely seen by Chicago audiences in mainstream venues (held occasionally, in Preston Bradley Hall).

The Ohm Multimedia Series incorporates new media in electronic music, performance and visual arts (held occasionally).

World Music Festival: Chicago is an annual multi-venue festival showcasing the traditional and contemporary music of cultures from around the world. Concerts, master classes, workshops, live radio broadcasts, and lecture/demonstrations are presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs (Held mid-September at the Chicago Cultural Center and other venues around the city).

The Cultural Center’s new monthly series, Under the Dome, will highlight a different musical genre each month. The series presents Chicago artists of all ages and musical backgrounds – often pairing performers together for the first time – under the magnificent restored Tiffany dome in Preston Bradley Hall.
