The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Millennium Park present a collection of three new Monday series this summer, including Downtown Sound and Dusk Variations and Edible Audible Picnic. All events are free.
Downtown Sound: New Music Mondays
Experience Cutting-Edge Indie Rock, Pop and more.
Presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Millennium Park, Downtown Sound: New Music Mondays is a unique series bringing some the freshest “news making” artists and groundbreaking rock veterans to the world renowned Jay Pritzker Pavilion. This series highlights international groups such as Rokia Traoré (Mali), Rural Alberta Advantage (Canada) and Otto (Brazil) intertwined with national and local favorites such as The Sea and Cake (Chicago), The Feelies (North Haledon, NJ) and Shearwater (Austin, TX).
Each concert will be emceed by a talented performer from the innovative organization Young Chicago Authors. Support for this new series is provided by Andy’s Pro Hire.
Dusk Variations: A Chamber Series
Immerse yourself in this contemporary classical music series with cutting edge musicians at the top of their form.
Classical music “with a twist” comes to the stage of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Millennium Park, this new series of four free concerts on Monday nights in June and July will push the boundaries of chamber music, mixing electronic music, improvisation and rock and roll, with classical music.
Edible Audible Picnic
Join us at noon on Mondays this summer for a picnic of sonic proportions.
Feast on the cutting-edge styles of rock bands, sound artists, audio documentaries, electronic musicians and more. Edible Audible Picnic draws on the Jay Pritzker Pavilion’s state-of-the-art sound system to produce quality performances for the loop lunchtime crowd.
