Christkindlmarket Chicago

This annual German tradition has become a beloved Chicago holiday institution. Inspired by the famous Nuremburg Christmas market dating back to 1545, Christkindlmarket brings Chicagoans and visitors from all over the world to Daley Plaza every holiday season. Over 50 vendors offer an abundance of unique handcrafted gifts that include ornaments, wooden and plush toys and European chocolates.  Scheduled events include festive performances and entertainment amidst the comforting aromas of stollen, gluhwein (a warm, mulled spiced wine), bratwurst, schnitzel, potato pancakes and other sweet and savory German treats.
