The Petite Concours: The Art of Small Cars is a display of microcars and minicars that seeks to enlighten and entertain. Using existing, renowned Concours as models – Pebble Beach, Kirkland, Amelia Island – The Petite Concours adds to an established roster of great car shows across the United States.
The Petite Concours: The Art of Small Cars is an invitational, judged car show with 30-40 different microcars and minicars circa 1950s & 1960s. Microcars are passenger cars with 500cc or smaller engines and minicars are 501cc to 999cc. By comparison, today’s Smart Car is 999cc. Some of the cars that will be displayed include Fiat Cinquecento, Citroen Deux Chevaux (2CV), and BMW Isetta. Reminiscent of Luigi in the animated film Cars, these microcars delight people of all ages. Car enthusiasts throughout the Chicagoland area will be invited to participate and exhibit their vehicles. Setup will be on Friday (7-16) with show days on Saturday and Sunday (7-17 & 7-18).

“Docents” and car owners will be on-hand during the car show to answer questions and share information. All show cars will have car specifications displayed, including country of origin, date of manufacture, engine displacement size, fuel efficiency and miles per gallon. Esteemed members of the car collecting community – enthusiasts, media, museums, manufacturers – will judge the vehicles. There will also be a “People’s Choice” judging. An “Awards Ceremony” will close the show.
