Chicago-based photographer John Allan Faier’s large format digital color photographs of mausoleums and their lobbies suggest a paradox in their lush treatment of this somewhat culturally taboo subject. The formal qualities of the photographs and the architectural spaces represented are evocative and at times provocative in their incongruity with the subject matter.
