The Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies is a dynamic center of education and expression, allowing Spertus – Chicago’s historic center of Jewish learning and culture – to offer a vibrant array of innovative new programming in its three main branches: Spertus College, Asher Library, and Spertus Museum.

Events at the Spertus Institute

Located in Chicago’s South Loop since 1924, Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies invites visitors of all ages and backgrounds to explore the multifaceted Jewish experience. A yearly schedule of public programs includes exhibitions, concerts, film, lectures, comedy and theater.

Spertus Museum

Through innovative exhibitions, commissions, and programming, Spertus Museum examines Jewish identity and the Jewish experience, exploring the powerful and reciprocal relationship between Jewish and broader culture.

Spertus College and Asher Library

The Institute’s Spertus College and Asher Library serve scholarly and casual learners, on-site and via distance learning, through programs, educational opportunities and cultural offerings that enhance understanding of the Jewish experience.

Bold new architecture

The bold new 155,000-square-foot building designed by the award-winning Krueck & Sexton Architects provides enhanced features to better serve visitors and students.

In addition, the building features the new 400-seat Feinberg Theater, a sophisticated performance space to showcase lectures, concerts, theater, and film; and an interactive Children’s Center.
