One of only a few publicly accessible green roofs in Chicago, the rooftop garden atop the Pepsico Building is not only a tranquil urban oasis, but a working example of sustainable architecture and renewable energy use. In addition to the greenery covering the second floor garden, visitors can take a close-up look at functioning solar panels and wind turbines that generate electricity. For its commitment to environmentally-friendly business practices, the Pepsico Building has been awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
