If you really want to see Chicago in all its glory, take a trip sky high to John Hancock Observatory.
The fun starts with the adrenaline rush of a ride 1,000-feet high in America's fastest elevator. Next follows the fascinating multimedia "Sky Tour" of Chicago's rich history narrated by David Schwimmer (not to mention the photo exhibits tracing its rise from marsh to metropolis). Then comes the crowning jewel: the spectacular 360º views from the 94th floor.
There's certainly a lot to see, including parts of Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois 80 miles away! What's more, the views at night when the lights come on are just as awe-inspiring and, dare we say, romantic!
It's a visual feast that, combined with the buzz of the Windy City below, proves exciting stuff. So be sure to take in the 94-story view from the indoor observatory, or step out on the Skywalk, Chicago's only open-air viewing platform, before you come back down to earth.
