Chicago Tribute Markers of Distinction commemorate notable Chicagoans by marking the places where they lived or worked. Since the program started in 1997, eighty markers have been erected, with plans underway to place twenty more by 2010. Markers are searchable by an honoree's name or address. Individuals or groups may also be nominated for this distinction. Chicago Tribute Markers articulate the connection between the city of today and the historic individuals and events that continue to shape our world.
Chicago Tribute Markers of Distinction is a collaboration between the Chicago Cultural Center Foundation, the Chicago Tribune Foundation, and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. A complete list of Chicago Tribute Markers may be found on the website.
