The Aragon is Chicago’s oldest, continuously operating ballroom. Some 8,000 people attended its opening in July 1926 when it was dubbed the most beautiful ballroom in the world. Designed to replicate a Spanish palace courtyard complete with stars, 20,000 square feet of circular, in-laid wood was installed on a cushion of cork, felt and springs to liven dancers’ steps.
Since then legendary performers from crooners to heavy metal bands have taken the stage to delight their fans. The Aragon is a popular venue for pop and rock concerts, as well as Latin music. The venue also hosts boxing and wrestling events.
The Aragon invites you to come take a special backstage tour that concert goers don’t get to see. Learn about the building of the Aragon and its millions of dollars in recent renovations. See its original, still working Wurlitzer organ, dressing rooms, backstage areas and more.
