Located just steps away from Lake Michigan, Loyola Park was the sole park created by the North Shore Park District, one of 22 independent park boards consolidated into the Chicago Park District in 1934.
Around 1950, the Chicago Park District more than doubled the size of Loyola Park and built a new fieldhouse with an adjacent grandstand. Another half-acre of propn 1971, bringing Loyola Park to more than 21.5 acres.
Today, the park is the heart of the community serving residents of all ages and backgrounds. From after-school programs to weaving to woodshop there is something from everyone. During the summer the park hosts the annual Artist of the Wall Festival on Father's Day weekend.
