There is no better way to see Chicago's lakefront than along the Lakefront Trail. Running from Hollywood Ave. on the north end, to 71st St. on the south end, Chicago’s 18-mile paved Lakefront Trail is an ideal place to bike, run, skate, and walk, for both active recreation and pure enjoyment. Featured along the trail are parks, beaches, gardens, statues and amenities like washrooms, parking lots, drinking fountains and concession stands.
At times the trail can be quite active, so please remember.....
- Pedestrians always have the right-of-way.
- Be visible when biking or skating, or wear protective equipment.
- Signal to others when passing and always pass on the left.
- Merge correctly. Before entering a trail, look both ways and yield to oncoming traffic.
- Don't block the trail. When stopping, move to the side of the trail to allow traffic to proceed.
- Be safe. Don't bike or skate while wearing headphones or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
