Featuring an Olympic–size rink for inline and ice skating, the Midway Plaisance is a gleaming facility that includes a skate rental area, a rooftop observation deck, and a warming center. Other popular activities at this historic park include rat hockey, seasonal sports, and private bookings for special events.
Eye-catching attractions at the Midway Plaisance include a lush winter garden, and nearby, a masterpiece of renowned Chicago sculptor Lorado Taft’s Fountain of Time sculpture and reflecting pool.
In collaboration with the University of Chicago during the summer months, the Midway Plaisance hosts Midweek @ the Midway, a hugely popular movie and concert series. Additionally, the annual Hyde Park Jazz Festival is also hosted at the Midway Plaisance.
