McCormick Place

Chicago's McCormick Place Convention Center is the premier convention facility in North America and is located just minutes from downtown Chicago. McCormick Place is comprised of four state-of-the-art buildings: the North and South Buildings, the West Building and Lakeside Center.

The size and versatility of McCormick Place are impressive:

1.2 million square feet all on one level
173 meeting rooms
700,000 square feet of meeting room space
4 ballrooms, 2 of which are the largest in the city
Assembly seating for 18,000 people

In addition, an expansive series of pedestrian promenades and sky bridges link the entire campus. The Grand Concourse connecting South and North and the Central Concourse in West are also locations for retail shops, cafes, restaurants and other visitor amenities.

The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is the only hotel connected to McCormick Place. The facility easily answers the hotel needs of event organizers by offering more than 800 sleeping rooms as well as banquet space and a Conference Center.

Throughout the complex, you will find entrances, elevators, restrooms and services that offer the accessibility that is required. Accessible parking is available in Lot A for events in South, North or West Buildings and in Lot C for events at Lakeside Center. McCormick Place also offers onsite rentals of mobility scooters, wheelchairs, PowerChairs and oxygen equipment through its preferred mobility service partner, Scootaround Inc. Mobility equipment can be reserved in advance and will be waiting for you at McCormick Place during your event or can be delivered to your Chicago area hotel. CTAPublic Transportation:

The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) manages the 3 public transit operations in northeastern Illinois: The Chicago Transit (CTA), Metra commuter rail and Pace suburban bus. For information on routes and schedules, contact the RTA via their website at www.rtachicago.org or call their Transit Information Hotline at 312-836-7000.

 

Bus Services
Getting to McCormick Place is possible by using the city transit system. The Chicago Transit Authority provides the following bus service and runs approximately every 15 minutes. Drop off is located at the main entrance to the South Building on Martin Luther King Drive.

Buses From Downtown Chicago: The #3 King Drive and the #4 Cottage Grove buses run downtown and may be picked up at the following locations: South Building - King Drive and 23rd Street West Building - southwest and northeast corners of the Indiana Avenue and Cermak Road intersection.


The #3 runs from morning to midnight daily, and the #4 runs 24 hours on weekdays (Monday through Friday) only.


From Union Station: From the corner of Canal Street and Jackson Blvd, take the #7 or the #126 bus on Jackson to Michigan Avenue, obtain a transfer to either the #3 King Drive or #4 Cottage Grove bus which will take you to McCormick Place.

From the Ogilvie Transportation Center (previously Northwestern Train Station): From the Washington Street exit, take any bus to Michigan Avenue, obtain a transfer to either the #3 King Drive or #4 Cottage Grove bus, which will take you to McCormick Place.

Regional Transit Authority (METRA): Located on Level 2.5 of the Grand Concourse, the METRA commuter railroad provides direct service within seven minutes to and from downtown Chicago. Service from the Randolph Station (nearby the Fairmont Hotel) to McCormick Place begins early
morning, with more frequent pick-ups during rush hours. Shuttle connections can be made to the METRA system. METRA services the Midwest as far north as Kenosha, Wisconsin; northwest to Fox Lake and Harvard; west to Elgin, Geneva and Aurora; southwest to Joliet and Orland Park;
south to University Park; and east to South Bend, Indiana.

Taxi Services

More than 5,800 city taxis are at your service in Chicago. Facility
direction signs and personnel at the Concierge Desk will direct
attendees to gates that are designated for your event.

Shared Taxi Program
This transportation option allows up to four passengers to share a taxicab for a flat $7 per person fare. This program covers hotels, restaurants and other attractions within these downtown boundaries: Roosevelt Road on the south, North Avenue on the north, Halsted Street
on the west and Lake Michigan on the east. Shared rides are available two hours before an exhibit closes. The taxi starter or McCormick Place Security personnel will provide assistance to event guests.

Parking:

Getting to McCormick Place is easy and convenient. There are two main parking lots on the McCormick Place campus. All are managed by Standard Parking and are in close proximity and walking distance to our convention complex. Events in Lakeside Center and Arie Crown Theater
designate Lot C as the primary parking location, while events in the North, South and West Buildings designate Lot A garage as the primary parking location.

Lot C is an underground garage with 1,900 parking spaces and is located on Ft. Dearborn Drive, adjacent to the Lakeside Center. Lot A is a six level garage and is located directly across from the Grand Concourse/Gate 4. Covered walkways from Lot A leading directly into McCormick Place and the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place Hotel also provide added convenience.

The parking rate is currently at $17. This is a flat fee regardless of the amount of time the vehicle is parked. Parking fees can be paid by cash or credit card; VISA, MasterCard and American Express are accepted. Parking lots are open throughout event hours. Overnight parking is not
available.
