Sports Development Office

The Sports Development Office (SDO) was created in 1994 to support existing sports programs and foster the development of new sports activity in the Chicagoland area.

SDO coordinates and produces annual events, including Mayor Daley's Holiday Sports Festival, the Race to Taste 5K Run and Walk, the Mayor’s Cup Youth Soccer Tournament, Bike Chicago and many more sports related events geared toward youth and families.

SDO serves as a liaison between the city and outside sports promoters and organizations, supports existing sports events and activities in the Chicago area and provides professional management counseling to local sports organizations.

SDO evaluates and bids for national and international amateur sports programs, sports conventions, and sports congresses.

By developing and maintaining relationships with sports organizations, creating new sports activities and events, and serving as the link between Chicago and the global sports communities, the Sports Development Office hopes to become the focal point of sports activity and support within the greater Chicago area.

If you have questions about any of the events that the Sports Development Office produces please e-mail Anne Davis at Anne.Davis@cityofchicago.org

If your looking to hold an athletic event along the lakfront contact the Chicago Park District Permit Office at 312-742-5369.
