What began as a basketball only tournament named Holiday Hoops in 2000 became Mayor Daley’s Holiday Sports Festival. Envisioned by Mayor Daley, the end result now encompasses both tournaments and interactive zones. Combined, the event attracts approximately 85,000 people annually over a period of three days. The event like its predecessor Holiday Hoops takes place at McCormick Place and is typically a three day event. Produced by the Mayor’s Office of Special Events, other partners include the Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Park District.
