Boystown

The stretch of Halsted Street between Belmont Avenue and Irving Park Road is the heart of Chicago’s thriving lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. There you’ll find gay-oriented shops, bars and restaurants, as well as the Center on Halsted, the world’s finest community center for LGBT people. 

 

The annual Pride Parade along Halsted at the end of June is a Chicago tradition, attracting tens of thousands of gay and straight viewers. This area is marked with rainbow pylons, signifying Chicago’s welcome to people of every background and sexual orientation.
