Tim, 35, has been a carpenter for almost 13 years. He is married, a part-time motorcycle instructor at Ride Chicago, and has lived in Pullman for the last 6 years, where he also has his own business, Peloquin Carpentry.
What do you like best about living in Pullman?
It's easy going.
What do you consider to be your neighborhood’s best hidden or undiscovered gem?
The Historic Hotel Florence.
What is the best way to explore your neighborhood? Is it particularly walkable or bike-friendly?
I’d say both. There is a Metra Electric line that drops you off in Pullman at 111th & 115th.
Are there any big festivals or popular public events that take place in your neighborhood?
We have a House Tour every October. This year it is the weekend of October 9th & 10, 2010. We also have a garden tour. The date is yet to be determined. Call 773.785.8901 for information.

Friendly, Beautiful, Historic, Cute and Tranquil.
What are some ways that residents show their neighborhood pride?
Beautiful gardens. Upkeep on their historic homes. All sorts of neighborhood committees and organizations.

This neighbor offers tons of history. The Pullman rail cars were built here. It was the first industrial neighborhood in the United States. Abraham Lincoln was transported by rail in a Pullman car from Washington D.C. to Springfield IL. During the Pullman strike, the National Guard was called in. Parts of The Fugitive, Road to Perdition and countless other movies were filmed right here in Pullman.
What are some popular spots to bring children in the neighborhood?
We have two playgrounds in the neighborhood. We also have Arcade Park were kids are always playing. We also have Pullman Youth Group were kids get to do all sorts fun stuff and after school activities.
What is your favorite thing about the city of Chicago?
The lakefront & architecture.
What is your favorite restaurant in the city?
Ditka’s
What is your favorite pizza place?
Nick & Vito’s Pizza
What is your favorite season, and seasonal Chicago activity and/or event?
Riding my motorcycle in the Fall & watching/attending a Bears game.
What’s the best place to view the city skyline?
Promontory Point in Hyde Park.
Where do you like to bring visiting friends or out-of-town guests?
Wrigley Field – it’s a great park.
What is your favorite hidden Chicago treasure, a spot or activity that few else know about?
The lakefront south of McCormick Place.
