Retired High School Mathematics teacher.
What neighborhood do you live in?
I live in Lakeview (all my life)
Favorite thing?
Only one? The vibrancy, so much to do.
Favorite neighborhood?
Of course Lakeview, or if you want a different one, Hyde Park. Lake View because of the people, transportation, Costco, Marianos etc. Hyde Park because there is so much to see & do. Rockefeller Chapel, Oriental Museum, Smart Museum, Science & Industry, book stores, ambiance there.
Favorite Summertime activity?
Grant Park Music Festival where I am a docent & attend the concerts. All the art festivals. Neighborhood festivals.
Best skyline view?
Eastern end of Navy Pier; the Bridge over the Chicago River on Diversey Ave - unexpected, but great.
Favorite places to take our visitors?
Old Town. A combination of a ride on our great L system & all there is to see from that viewpoint, our history (the cemeteries), the Great Fire & fire relief
cottages, Lincoln Park, the Zoo.
Favorite Pizza place?
Leonas
Deep Dish or Thin Crust?
Only thin crust.
Favorite Chicago Tradition?
Christkindlmarket; eating under the Walnut Room Christmas tree and looking at the animated windows at Macy’s; Macy’s fabulous Spring Flower Show; Chinese New Year Parade.
Favorite Place?
Can’t name just one. A CSO performance at Symphony Center. Preston Bradley Hall, so stunning. Millenium Park.
Hidden Spot?
Small parks/sculpture gardens north & fountain south of the Art Institute.
Where do you like to go for fun?
A concert or a museum.
Why did you become a Chicago Greeter?
I like interacting with people, especially from other parts of the USA or world. I love Chicago & sharing it with visitors.
What was your most memorable Chicago Greeter experience?
There is no way to make a choice. The people I meet are so interesting, so happy to be here & enjoy wherever I take them. Each experience is unique, as are the people.
