Searah

Searah, 36, is a local business owner, a Chicago resident for the past 18 years, and currently lives in the Rogers Park neighborhood. She and her girlfriend have a baby on the way!
What neighborhood do you live in?
Rogers Park, probably my favorite place in the city! There is good food, lots of nice folks, plenty of trees and the lake is just a hop, skip and a jump away. I can pretty much live most of my life north of Devon and be happy.
What is your favorite thing about Chicago?
The people for sure. While this city can feel huge at times, the friendly, hardy Midwesterners give it a small town feel. And the lake. Who doesn’t love a large body of water?
Where do you like to go for fun?
Walking by the lake, cocktails at Big Chicks and my friends' backyards.
What is your favorite restaurant?
For dinner, it is a toss up between Ethiopian Diamond and Indie Café.
Favorite pizza place?
Carmen’s (for the stuffed spinach).
Favorite summertime activity?
BBQs and complaining about the weather.
Favorite season?
Fall. When it just starts to get cold and the leaves fall. If only it lasted more than 5 days…
Cubs or Sox?
I avoid the Red Line on game day at all costs.
Favorite Chicago tradition?
Dyke March.
What’s the best place to view the city skyline?
Driving down Lake Shore Drive on the way home from a road trip to somewhere less beautiful.
Where do you like to bring visiting friends or out-of-town guests?
I take them to M. Henry for brunch and to the lake and maybe shopping in Andersonville if they are in the mood.
What is a hidden Chicago treasure to you?
The Leather Archives & Museum… a hidden gem on a residential street in Rogers Park.
