FASHION FOCUS CHICAGO CONGRATULATES
CHICAGO-BASED DESIGNERS APPEARING IN
NEW YORK FASHION WEEK
Chicagoans Maria Pinto, a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and Lara Miller are among the Designers Showing during the Annual Fashion Week
Fashion Focus Chicago, the City of Chicago’s initiative dedicated to supporting and promoting fashion designers living and working in the city, congratulates Chicago-based designers Maria Pinto and Lara Miller for their upcoming participation in New York City’s famed Fashion Week.
Maria Pinto, a 2009 inductee into the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), will debut her Spring 2010 Installation on Wednesday, September 16th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Banchet Flowers (74 Gansevoort Street) during New York’s illustrious Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
Lara Miller, a leader in contemporary sustainable fashion and Executive Director of the Chicago Fashion Incubator at Macy's State Street, will also debut her Spring 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week. Miller’s collection appears at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16 at King of Greene Street (72 Greene Street) as part of The GreenShows, a two-day event showcasing the best in smart sustainable style.
“Chicago’s fashion scene is thriving and we are thrilled to see two of the city’s finest designers highlighted during New York’s Fashion Week,” Chicago Director Melissa Gamble. “We are also particularly proud of Maria Pinto for being one of the only Chicago-based designers ever to be inducted into the CFDA.”
Chicago’s fashion scene will also be highlighted during the fifth annual Fashion Focus Chicago. Running from Thursday, October 22 through Sunday, October 25 Fashion Focus Chicago showcases some of the city’s top designers, and features runway shows in Millennium Park and at various locations around the city. Shopping events, hotel and shopping packages, and industry seminar round out this year’s line-up.
